In this year's list, 93 universities are participating in the ranking for the first time.
Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU Hanoi) (at 160th), Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNU Ho Chi Minh City) (158th), Ton Duc Thang University (163rd), Hanoi University of Science and Technology (in the group 301-350), Duy Tan University (in the group 351-400), University of DaNang and Hue University (in the group 401 -500); Can ThoUniversity (in the group 451-500); Hanoi Pedagogical University (in the group 551-600); Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City and University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (in the group 601+) are all included in the "QS Top 500 in 2021 " ranking.
Universities are ranked based on four indicators including Academic Reputation ( 30 percent), Employer Reputation (20 percent), Faculty/student ratio (10 percent), International research networks (10 percent), Staff with a PhD ( 5 percent), Citations per paper (10 percent) and papers per faculty (5 percent), Proportion of international faculties (2.5 percent) and proportion of international students (2.5 percent), Proportion of inbound exchange students (2.5 percent) and proportion of outbound exchange students (2.5 percent). This year, QS analyzed 22 million scientific publications and 200 million citations to produce the data used for the rankings.
In the list, Singapore continues to maintain its leading position with two universities: NUS University (National University of Singapore - 1st in Asia; 11th in the world) and NTU (Nanyang Technological University Singapore) - 3rd in Asia; 13th in the world).
