This is the first time many Vietnamese films were screened in different regions of the US. Our VTV Correspondent in the US has more.
Six films will be screened during the Vietnamese Film Week in the US, which lasted from July 4th to July 18th. These films reflect the history, culture and people of Vietnam and have won awards both in Vietnam and abroad.
According to organisers, although the Vietnamese film industry has a long history, yet it has taken years for the industry to have an impact internationally. And events like the film week in the US are a good chance to introduce Vietnamese films to foreign audiences.
Mrs. Ngo Phuong Lan, Head of Vietnam Cinema Department, said: "In terms of the US, introducing the Vietnamese film industry will take time. But if we can hold the event annually, we can gradually get some recognition from American audiences".
The Vietnamese Film Week will be held in Hawaii, Washington DC and New York. Within the event’s schedule, there will also be exchange forums between filmmakers from the two countries and other events showcasing the culture and cuisine of Vietnam.
