Vietnamese director wins Int’l film award

VTV.vn - A short film ‘David And Luisa’ directed by renowned Vietnamese filmmaker Bui Trung Hai has carried off the Silver Remi Award for a Dramatic Short Film at the 48th Houston International Film Festival in the US.

The 22-minute film, made in 2012, is about a passionate novice acting student who falls hard for a classmate. His excessive feelings, exercises with her in their acting class and his impulsive nature involves him in an illusory event that brings them together.

The film was shot in the US when Hai studied his Master’s of Fine Arts in Filmmaking at the New York Film Academy.

Hai is currently working at Vietnam Film Studio. He won the Gold Remi Award at WorldFest – Houston International Film Festival in 2008 for his first film ‘Khi Nang Thu Ve’ (When Autumn Sunlight Comes) and the Silver Lotus title for ‘Ha Noi 12 Ngay Dem’ (Hanoi’s 12 Nights and Days) at the Vietnam National Film Festival in 2004.
