VTV.vn - Vietnamese brides in the Republic of Korea were given a chance to talk with their relatives via video link this week.

This is an annual activity facilitated by the UCC - a trade union organization in the Republic of Korea. But this year, the program is doing more for these families. We have more in the following report.

For the Vietnamese brides in the Republic of Korea, these 30-minute video calls with their families at home can somehow ease their homesickness. These calls are organized every year by a Korean organization called UCC for the brides who can’t visit their families in Vietnam.

Huynh Van Manh from Can Tho has a daughter who got married to a Korean man. It has been 7 years and he has never met her since. Today his family was invited to visit Hanoi by UCC, but they had no idea what surprise was waiting for them.

At the same time in Noi Bai Airport in Hanoi, Manh’s daughter –Hang Em- and her family just arrived to prepare for the next day, when they would reunite with their Vietnamese family. Since the wedding, she lives with her family Korea. With the main income from agriculture production, it is not easy to afford a trip home like this.

Besides facilitating video calls and family reunions, the UCC also organizes free health checks and cultural exchange activities for multicultural families. This is the 4th year the UCC has organized activities in Vietnam. As of 2014, around 50.000 Vietnamese women had married Korean men and moved to Korea.
