A ceremony to welcome this recognition was held in the province with the participation of many government officials, as well as members of the Buddhist Shanghas of Vietnam and Myanmar, the Cambodian King of the Monk Tep Vong, and Buddhist followers across Vietnam.
Speaking at the event, the Most Venerable Thich Duc Thien, General Secretary of Vietnam’s Buddhist Sangha, said that the recognition is part of Vietnam’s efforts to preserve and develop national cultural traditions and pay gratitude to Monk King Tran Nhan Tong.
This is also aimed at educating the local people in Le Thuy district of Quang Binh province about national pride and patriotism, and promoting local religious and spiritual life.
