VTV.vn - Christmas is just days away, and for Christians in the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak, there is even more reason for them to enjoy the festive season, as they have benefited from better living standards.

Like many other people in Sah A Village (đọc là Sát A) in the Central highland province of Dak Lak, Y Nhun’s family have enjoyed a good coffee harvest. Y Nhun’s family are now drying the beans for storage before Christmas and New Year.

The local community has taken part in building a 3-kilometre inter-village road as part of the new rural development program carried out for the past few years.

"Before the new rural development programme was carried out, we faced a lot of difficulties as there were very poor transport links. However, we now have a concrete road so people find it much easier to travel than in the past when they had to brave muddy roads", Y Yud Nie Sieng, living in Cu M'gar District, Dak Lak Province, said.

"The locals now understand the benefits of the new rural development programme. They have contributed both efforts and money in carrying out the programme during the 2011 to 2015 period", Y Duc Ayun, Vice Chairman of Ea Tul Commune People’s Committee in Cu M'gar District, Dak Lak Province, said.

As the majority of the population are Protestants the neighbourhood will soon see a new church built. Although many households in Ea Tul Ward are still busy with their coffee harvest, they are spending time decorating their homes for Christmas. With a good coffee harvest expected and much needed improvements to local infrastructure happening, Christmas and New Year offers plenty of festive cheer.
