VTV.vn - Huge challenges face Vietnamese businesses since the country officially opened 100% of its retail market in Jan 1st 2009 according to its WTO commitments.

Now many foreign mass retailers are developing their business in Vietnam, such as Thai conglomerate the Central Group which has officially bought the Big C supermarket chain from its previous French owner. Vietnamese firms have no other choice but to compete, even without finance, size and ample experience.

Consumers will benefit most from competition between retailers and e-commerce businesses. They will have a wider range of better quality products from various producers in Vietnam and abroad.
