Tuna needs dolphin safety certification

VTV.vn - According to the National Agro-Forestry Fisheries Quality Assurance Department has regulated that tuna exports to the United States need to pass the dolphin safe approval provided by the US Department of Commerce.

This panel means that caught tuna does not threaten the safety of dolphins. Tuna exporters will need to provide updated information and apply all US regulations if they are to face fewer difficulties in exporting tuna to this market.

Tuna export turnover to the US reached more than 190 million USD last year, increasing by 8.5% compared to the same period of 2014. The US still remains Vietnam’s largest tuna importer. However, in the first quarter of this year, total tuna export turnover to the US only earning 36 million USD, a 4% fall compared to the same period of last year.
