VTV.vn - Over the last few years, the percentage of cash payments in Vietnam has gone down from 20% to around 12%, according to the State Bank of Vietnam.

During the period, commercial banks have intensified the application of new technology, including fingerprint and QR code payment systems.

Currently, about 223 thousand POS machines have been installed nationwide, an increase of 330% compared to 5 years ago. At the end of 2015, over 99.5 million payment cards had been issued in Vietnam.
