Salt prices currently stand at 1,500 VND or 7 US cents a kilo with Can Gio District producing some 130,000 tons per year.
The price offered by the HCM City People’s Committee for salt produced in Can Gio is 30% higher, while transportation costs to distributors will also be subsidised by the city.
