VTV.vn - Salinisation and other effects of climate change have resulted in great losses in Vietnam, including for example, in the Mekong Delta province of Soc Trang.

Vietnam also suffered from a 85 billion US dollar loss in 2015 due to climate change. Since 2008, the National Target Programme on Responding to Climate Change has been actively implemented by local authorities and residents.

Vietnam is also promoting a national strategy on green growth for the 2014-2020 period, with the aim to restructure economic institutions towards better energy consumption and sustainable development.

In COP21 2015, Vietnam committed itself to cut greenhouse gases by 8% by 2030 and to contribute 1 million US dollars to the Green Climate Fund in the 2016-2020 period.
