Vietnam commits to implementing 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development

In the framework of the 70th Regular Session of the UN General Assembly, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Permanent Representative Nguyen Phuong Nga delivered her speech to highlight Vietnam’s commitment to implementing the United Nation’s goals.

With the success of the Millennium development goals’ implementation, Ms. Nga affirmed that Vietnam is dedicated to successfully implementing the 2030 agenda for sustainable development and supporting the COP-21 agreement on climate change, which is scheduled to be approved in Paris next December. Vietnam will also actively participate in peace-keeping activities by the UN.

Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga noted that Vietnam highly valued the Iran nuclear agreement and the normalisation of US and Cuba relations. The ambassador expressed her hope that the UN Assembly in general and member countries in particular will support Vietnam for its participation in the Economic and Social Council in the 2016 – 2018 period, the Intergovernmental Council of UNESCO's Management in the 2015 – 2019 period, and the United Nations Security Council in the 2020 – 2021 term.
