At the event, Party General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng said that the 6th session of the 12th Party Central Committee collected opinions on socio-economic development of the 2017-2018 period, as well as heath care for the community and population work in the current situation.
The Party Central Committee elected two additional members to its Secretariat, who are Head of the Party Central Committee's Internal Affairs Commission Phan Đình Trạc, and Director of Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics Nguyễn Xuân Thắng.
The Party Central Committee also decided to dismiss Nguyễn Xuân Anh from the positions of Secretary of the Da Nang Party Committee, member of the municipal Party's Standing Board and the municipal Party Committee for the 2015-2020 tenure. He was also removed from the 12th Party Central Committee.
