Teaching children in remote areas

VTV.vn - Let's see what life is like for the teachers in one of the most remote, coldest, and poorest schools of Cao Bang province in Lung Man village, Bao Lam district, to see the sacrifices these teachers have made.

At 9:00 pm, these teachers have just finished going to each student's home to encourage them to go to school. Some students live 4 kms away, so the teachers have to walk for hours.

Most of the students' parents work in the fields all day, so teachers can only meet them at night. The school doesn't have electricity; the bulbs here are from solar energy and are used sparingly to prepare for lectures.

The school's alarm sounds at 6 am, but it isn't to signal that class is starting, but to let students know that the teachers are waiting for them. From all corners of the village, the students eagerly go to school. The first grade always has the most number of students. Here, they learn their first numbers and letters.

The school has 58 students, 100% are H'mong children. At the end of each week, the teachers go to the town center 40 kms away to charge their phones and buy more food.

The community contributes to the school; sometimes, by getting water for them. The rainy season hasn't arrived yet, so water here is very scarce.

The village is surrounded all year by a cold mist. Volunteer teachers have come to stay, in return, they get their happiness from seeing their students learn how to read and write.
