SThe contest was co-organised by the Centre for Communication of Natural Resources and Environment under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) in Vietnam.
On October 5, a launch ceremony for the contest took place in Hanoi, with the participation of musicians, artists, students and reporters from press agencies in the Hanoi area.
As an activity towards Vietnamese Women's Day (October 20) and the national action month for gender quality and gender-based violence prevention and response (from November 15 to December 15), the contest is expected to help raise public awareness of the benefits of a society without gender bias; demonstrate individual commitment and action towards concrete changes to end gender bias, discrimination and gender-based violence and promote gender equality for all.

Vu Minh Ly, the Deputy Director of the Centre for Communication of Natural Resources and Environment under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, said that the contest was launched nationwide, to attract and encourage all Vietnamese citizens at home and abroad; foreigners living, working, studying and labouring in Vietnam, to compose songs to change social standards towards gender equality, non-discrimination and ending gender-based violence.
Acting UN Women Representative in Vietnam, Caroline Nyamayemombe shared that Vietnam has made great progress in promoting gender equality in recent years; however, there is still much work to be done.
Entries need to be new creations, have not competed in other creative competitions and have no dispute over copyright or authorship. Lyrics should not exceed 10 minutes and can be written in Vietnamese, English or a bilingual combination.
The entries are to be submitted to the Natural Resources and Environment Newspaper, Duong Dinh Nghe Street, Yen Hoa ward, Cau Giay, Hanoi City, from October 5 to November 16, 2023.
The closing ceremony and award ceremony are expected to take place at the end of November 2023.
