In order to fulfill the task of building and developing the armed forces to meet the requirements of the resistance war against the U.S. for national salvation, on June 15, 1956, the Supreme Command decided on June 15, 1956 to establish the 4th Battalion under the 367th High-Angle Artillery Regiment. This was the predecessor unit of the Vietnam Air Defense Radar Army. On March 21, 1958, the Ministry of Defense issued a decision to establish two anti-aircraft artillery regiments: 260 and 290.
At 00:00 on March 1, 1959, all 6 radar battalions of the 260th Regiment began air control simultaneously. This is a significant historical event in the process of construction, combat, growth, and development of the Vietnam Radar Force. Since then, March 1, 1959, has become the traditional day of the Vietnam Radar Force.
In times of war and peace, the radar soldiers have always steadfastly operated the equipment, held ground positions, conducted reconnaissance, and provided timely information on air targets. Generations of officers and soldiers of the Radar Force, with a determined spirit and the courageous, resilient, dynamic, and creative qualities, have always maintained and promoted the noble qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers. Through 65 years of fighting, and developing the Radar Force has overcome all difficulties to build a strong and comprehensive force, contributing to the firm management and protection of the nation's airspace in all situations.
“Mắt thần canh trời tổ quốc" (Eyes of the Guardian Sky of the Motherland) will review the glorious achievements of the Vietnamese Radar Force. In addition, the audience will learn more about the special training and education at the "white clouds and golden sunshine" training grounds for radar soldiers.
