VTV.vn - Hanoi People's Committee Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung visited areas in the city affected by the recent heavy rains and flooding that struck the northern and north central regions of Vietnam.

A 10-metre section of the dyke of the Bui River broke on October 12th in Chuong My District, Hanoi, flooding a large area of farmland and affecting more than 200 households.

The residents are still reported to be without electricity and have to move around by boat. Chairman Chung directed all efforts on draining water as well as providing clean water and food for the eight hamlets currently isolated by the flooding. The people's committee has also directed the city's Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to prepare livestock and seeds to help local residents resume production.
