On Wednesday, head of the General Department of Disaster Prevention and Control and the authories of Dien Bien Province examined and directed the work of overcoming the consequences of heavy rains in Nam Po District. Currently, 40 houses and schools have been filled with mud.
The local authorities had to evacuate nearly 700 students and 350 others from Pa Co village. The central area of Nam Po District is now isolated as landslides have blocked the roads. Heavy flooding has also damaged around 70 houses in the districts of Muong Cha, Nam Po, Tuan Giao, and Tua Chua.
More than 130 hectares of rice have been flooded. Forces have mobilized to open roads for transportation and to help households and schools repair the damage.
