The Czech linguistic professor Dr. Ivo Vasiljev and Vietnamese engineer Nguyen Quyet Tien, along with their colleagues, have made efforts to complete the massive project for 12 years.
The six-volume dictionary, which consists of nearly 120,000 words, is the continuation of the first Czech-Vietnamese dictionary published in the 1960s.
The authors used documentations from the latest Czech and Vietnamese dictionaries, aiming to meet the demands of readers.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Czech Republic Ho Minh Tuan appreciated the efforts of the compilation team, particularly the contributions of Dr. Ivo Vasiljev and engineer Nguyen Quyet Tien.
The launching of the great dictionary has contributed to the development of the traditional friendship between the two countries as well as paid tribute to late Dr. Ivo Vasiljev, who passed away in 2016.
