In a recent conference on air quality control, the agency revealed that air pollution causes damage worth billions of dollars to Vietnam every year. According to their statistics, over 90% of Vietnamese citizens in major metropolises in Vietnam regularly use face masks. However, they can only prevent 10% of dust from the polluted air. The other 90% is micro dust, which is 20-30 times smaller than a hair string and can easily penetrate face masks. They are considered to be the cause of lung-related diseases.
This has called for the local authorities to closely monitor air quality in major cities and implement control measures.
