VTV.vn - Mobile service provider s will block incoming calls for about 1.8 million subscribers with personal information failing to match the national population database beginning on April 1.

According to the department, as of March 30, the personal information of more than 1.99 million mobile subscribers has been synchronised with the national population database.

Statistics show that there are about 126 million mobile subscribers in Vietnam.

Those that do not coordinate with mobile service providers to update their personal information will have their two-way communication blocked from April 15, and they will have their contracts terminated from May 15 if they still fail to update their personal information.

The standardisation of information is carried out following a decree on mobile telecommunications.

Phone numbers with incorrect information will receive a notification from the mobile carriers.

Mobile phone providers will send messages to customers for five days at least once a day to ask subscribers to update their information as requested.

According to the decree, all mobile subscriptions need to provide accurate personal information of owners, including name, identification number and profile picture.

The regulation aims to help protect the interests of customers using the service and limit the number of junk SIMs in the market.

In 2022, the Government ordered that every active mobile phone number must be linked to the national population database
