Israel expels Turkish consul in Jerusalem - Israeli Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday that it expelled the Turkish consul in Jerusalem.

The ministry's spokesman said in a statement that the consul had been summoned and was told to return to Turkey "for consultations for a period of time."

Earlier on Tuesday, Turkey expelled Israeli ambassador in Ankara. The dispute appears to mark the worst diplomatic crisis between the two nations since Israeli marines stormed an aid ship to enforce a naval blockade of Gaza in 2010, killing 10 Turkish activists and prompting a downgrade in diplomatic ties that lasted until 2016.
