Strengthening ASEAN Veterans’ unity and cooperation

The 25th General Assembly of VECONAC adopted several important resolutions and admitted Timor-Leste as its 11th member.

Member countries also agreed to strengthen coordination between VECONAC with ASEAN. VECONAC meetings and General Assemblies will now be held ahead of ASEAN Summits, allowing their outcomes to be promptly incorporated into ASEAN documents.

Vietnam contributed to this effort by promoting initiatives to strengthen ties among veterans across the region, including the VECONAC Business Forum, which provides a platform for veteran entrepreneurs to network and promote economic cooperation.

The General Assembly also approved plans to upgrade the organisation's website to enhance security, governance and connectivity among member organizations. At the closing session, Cambodia handed over the VECONAC Chairmanship for 2027 to Brunei Darussalam./.
