197 candidates for NA election introduced

The preparation for the list of candidates for the National Assembly election by the election committee was praised at the conference.

"The procedures met the time schedules and the standards set for the candidates were clarified. There is still much to be discussed about these candidates. But they all seem like capable candidates", Cao Sy Liem, a member of Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, said.

Delegates at the conference emphasised how they wanted good-quality candidates standing for elected positions. They suggested more attention should be paid to gathering public opinion in the areas where the candidates work.

The declaration of personal assets is compulsory for all candidates whether they nominated themselves or not. Some delegates wondered about the transparency of the process as the declaration reports are not confirmed by any local authority.

After the 2^nd consultation conference, conferences to gather opinions and confidence reports of the locals on their chosen representative candidate for the National Assembly election will be organised from march 20^th to April 12^th. The 3^rd consultation conference is set to take place on April 14^th.
