HÀ NỘI — Nguyễn Nam Long, general director of VNPT-Net, on Monday was appointed CEO of the mobile network VNPT-Vinaphone.
Long will replace Tô Dũng Thái, who was appointed chairman of Vinaphone at the beginning of this month. Long will hold the position for the next three years.
Long, who was born in 1968, has a master’s degree in telecommunication engineering. He began working at Việt Nam Telecoms National Company (VTN) under VNPT in 1992. Prior to his tenure at VTN, he held many important positions at various units of VTN and VNPT-Net.
He was appointed deputy general director of VNPT-Net in 2015 and general director of the firm six months later.
VNPT also appointed Lương Hồng Khanh, director of VNPT Đà Nẵng, as deputy general director of VNPT-VinaPhone.
Vinaphone is the second largest mobilephone network in Việt Nam, accounting for 21 per cent of market share. Viettel, the largest mobile provider, holds 60 per cent of market share while Mobifone has 18 per cent.
Vinaphone has more than 7,000 employees and 103,000 shops nationwide.
VinaPhone targets VNĐ26 trillion of revenue by 2020, pre-tax profit of VNĐ3.3 trillion, and an average annual growth rate of 49 per cent a year, accounting for 30 per cent of market for mobile services and over 80 per cent of the market for broadband services. — VNS
