HCM CITY — “A week of Vietnamese businesses’ products at Co.opmart” programme has opened at Co.opmart Huỳnh Tấn Phát in HCM City’s District 7.

The programme seeks to enable businesses to introduce their products directly to consumers by bringing them into the supermarket’s distribution system.

Nearly 60 businesses in various sectors, including chemical cosmetics, garments, handicrafts, agriculture, food and foodstuff, and household goods are taking part.

Most of products in the programme have not been sold before at Co.opmart and Co.opXtra supermarkets or the Co.op Food chain.

Consumers have the opportunity to try quality products made in Việt Nam, many meeting export quality.

They come with hygiene and food safety certificates while the agricultural products were produced to VietGAP or GlobalGAP standards.

As part of the programme, the Investment and Trade Promotion Centre of HCM City and Saigon Co.op also held an event on Friday to help businesses meet directly with personnel from the latter’s trading and purchasing department.

Saigon Co.op has nearly 700 selling points, including 112 Co.opmart supermarkets, 4 Co.opXtra hypermarkets and more than 300 Co.op Food stores around the country.

Vietnamese goods account for over 90 per cent of the more than 30,000 items they sell.

The retailer has more than 2,000 suppliers, including hundreds of small-scale ones who were signed up through a programme to link businesses in HCM City with those in other cities and provinces.

Organised by the ITPC, Saigon Co.op and the People’s Committee of District 7, the programme, which opened on Thursday will go on until next Monday.

It is part of a series of activities to enable Vietnamese firms to bring their goods into modern trade channels and contribute to the Vietnamese people give priority to using Vietnamese goods" campaign.VNS
