Police investigate alleged child abuse

THANH HÓA — Police in central Thanh Hóa Province’s Triệu Sơn District are investigating the alleged physical abuse of an eight-year-old girl by her father.

The girl was reportedly abused by her biological father with a bamboo stick on February 20. An image of the girl’s swollen and bruised arms, back and backside has been shared on social media websites.

After learning about the incident, police in Triệu Sơn District sent the girl to a local health clinic for a health check.

The police summoned the girl’s father to clarify the incident; however, he did not report to the police.

The girl’s parents were divorced in 2017. The girl and her brother stayed with their father and grandparents in Triệu Sơn District’s Nông Trường Commune.
