ĐÀ NẴNG — Yokohama, Japan, and the central city’s Đông Á College have inked a comprehensive agreement on a nursing education and employment programme to serve healthcare needs in Japan in 2018-19.

The agreement was signed on August 2 during a working visit by representatives of Yokohama to Đà Nẵng.

As planned, Yokohama will receive the first 20 graduates from the Đà Nẵng-based college to work at medical centres from later this year, and 50 nursing graduates from 2019.

Director of the Health and Social Welfare Bureau of Yokohama, Hiroaki Tanaka, said it was the first time Yokohama signed an agreement with a private college in Việt Nam, after surveying a series of universities and colleges in Hà Nội, HCM City, Huế and Đà Nẵng.

He said Yokohama would manage and support Vietnamese nursing graduates working in Japan following the agreement.

According to officials from Yokohama, students from central Việt Nam will be offered internship programmes and employment by 99 health care centres in Japan from 2019.

Takasago Group and Đông Á College also signed a transfer agreement on a physical training programme for kindergarten education in 2018-19.

Kibi International University, a private university in Takahashi, Japan, also agreed to co-operate with the college in training kindergarten teachers.

WBS Training AG from Germany has already agreed a co-operation deal for manpower education with Đông Á College in the fields of hospitality, hotel, restaurant, business management, information technology, control and automation, automobile engineering, and electronics to serve the German market.

During an employment fair at the college last week, more than 2,300 graduate students signed up to work with 34 local and foreign businesses. Of those, 46 students will be working in Singapore and Japan.

Đà Nẵng has 12 colleges and vocational centres serving around 9,000 students each year.
