HÀ NỘI — Hà Nội People’s Committee has approved a project to build underground parking lot at Thủ Lệ Zoo in Ba Đình District.

The project worth more than VNĐ 1.7 trillion (US$72.7 million) by Him Lam BC Investment Joint Stocks Company will cover some 16,100 sq.m. The total area of underground parking is about 72,000 sq.m including five storeys and a technical floor.

The project is expected to be completed in the third quarter of next year, helping to meet increasing demand for parking areas in the city.

According to the committee, there are nearly 6.5 million vehicles registered in the city, not including those coming from other cities and provinces. However, current parking areas in the city meet about 8 to 10 per cent of demand, which results in illegal parking areas. — VNS
