HÀ NỘI — Four to five storms are forecast to hit Việt Nam’s mainland in 2019, according to the National Centre for Hydro-Metrological Forecasting.
The stormy season on the South China Sea (known in Việt Nam as East Sea) is predicted to come late with fewer typhoons and tropical depressions.
The central region is foreseen to be the most affected, especially in the second half of 2019.
From April to August, the average temperature has been higher than during the same period last year, rising from 0.5 to 1 degree Celsius.
In another development, after storm No 2 which hit Hải Phòng City and Quảng Ning Province on Thursday, Việt Nam Electricity on Friday restored the electricity supply for six affected localities of Hải Phòng, Quảng Ninh, Nam Định, Hải Dương, Thanh Hóa and Hưng Yên.
However, some 106,000 people are still suffering from power outages. VNS
