Driver fined for reversing on highway

HẢI PHÒNG — A lorry driver has been fined for reversing his truck into oncoming traffic on a highway.

The man must pay VNĐ17 million (US$700) and has been banned from driving for five months after he was caught on CCTV cameras making the illegal manoeuvre on the Hà Nội-Hải Phòng Highway.

The 46-year-old from Hải Dương had missed his turnoff close to Gia Lộc Town in Hải Dương Province when he reversed.

He was caught by the Hà Nội-Hải Phòng Highway Management Board.

Recognising that the action was very dangerous, the management board cooperated with traffic police to give him a fine based on the Government’s Decree 100/NĐ-CP. — VNS
