Construction of biggest solar plant starts

NINH THUẬN — The ground breaking ceremony for the country’s biggest ever solar energy project was held on Saturday in the coastal province of Ninh Thuận.

The Trung Nam Solar Power Company, a member of the Trung Nam Group, has pledged to invest nearly VNĐ5 trillion (US$222.2 million) in the project.

The 300ha-plant in Thuận Bắc Commune will also be the first large-scale solar and wind energy hybrid project in the country.

The plant will use machinery provided by Siemens and is expected to produce a maximum of 450 million kWh a year for Ninh Thuận Province and the country in general.

The plant is due to be completed and start operations by June next year. — VNS
