Building contractor dead, one builder hurt in work accident

KHÁNH HÒA – A building contractor was killed and another seriously injured Saturday while working at their construction site in Khánh Hòa Province.

The chairman of the Phước Đồng Commune People’s Committee in Nha Trang City, Nguyễn Văn Hưởng, said yesterday that local authorities imposed an administrative fine and suspended construction on the house of Nguyễn Sơn Quế.

A concrete board, five metres in length and one metre in width, fell on Trương Văn Chín, the contractor, killing him immediately. Trần Quang Cường, a builder, fell from a height and sustained serious injuries, especially to his lungs.

Chairman Hưởng said that the construction work was illegal. The owner was fined VNĐ2 million (US$90). – VNS
