Phan Lợi, deputy director of the An Giang Department of Industry and Trade, said the department has called upon local enterprises to join the provincial market stabilisation programme, supplying essential goods with stable prices for people during the Tết holiday this year.
So far, this programme has attracted 24 businesses and those firms, opening more than 1,600 points of sale for price-stabilised products including food, foodstuff and electronics products.
Lợi said African swine fever has caused a reduction of pork supply and the lack of pork will continue until Tết. Therefore, the department has urged enterprises to store enough pork to meet local demand.
The province will also cooperate with the Department of Finance to monitor the local market and prices of essential commodities such as rice, pork, sugar, animal feed, fertiliser, petrol and gas. — VNS
