VTV.vn - The Volunteer Initiative Awards 2019 were launched by the Vietnamese Student Association (VSA) in Hanoi on April 10, aiming to support ideas that facilitate youth movement across the nation.

The competition targets Vietnamese students at home and abroad. Candidates can join in individual or group form (up to three candidates per group), with an unlimited number of participating ideas to help improve and solve issues in the 2019 Summer Volunteer Campaign, divided into specific groups, including modern rural and civilised urban area construction, protecting the environment in response to climate change, traffic safety, social security, socio-cultural issues, education and caring for children.

Sharing with Nhan Dan Newspaper’s reporter at the launch, Bui Quang Huy, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and President of the VSA, said that the contest is an active practical activity to seek ideas to improve the quality of the "Green Summer" Volunteer Campaign.

"Over the past few years, volunteer student teams both at home and abroad have had many good ideas towards this goal. We hope that the competition will become a place to support students to contribute their ideas towards the improvement of quality in volunteer programmes," said Huy, who is also the head of the organising committee.

Highly feasible ideas will be evaluated and granted funding to deploy in the" Green Summer" Campaign, as well as to become a quality reference for the VSA to integrate into its volunteer movements in the coming years, added Huy.

The organisers will collect dossiers for the awards from April 10 until May 10, before sending them to an online voting and preliminary round, taking place from May 12 to 19. The semi-finals are set for May 25 and the final round and the award ceremony are scheduled to be held on May 31.
