Youth hold candle-lighting ceremonies to commemorate heroes and fallen soldiers

VTV.vn - Youth unions across the country have held candle-lighting ceremonies to commemorate heroes and fallen soldiers on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of Wounded and Fallen Soldiers’ Day (July 27, 1947 - 2022).

On the evening of July 24, members of youth unions in 30 districts across Hanoi lit candles at thousands of tombs of fallen soldiers at cemeteries throughout the city.

According to Secretary of the municipal Youth Union Chu Hong Minh, the city’s youth union members are implementing various activities from July 20 to 27 to observe the Wounded and Fallen Soldiers’ Day, including presenting 2,600 gifts and delivering free medicine to national contributors and handing over 300 scholarships to children of wounded and fallen soldiers.

On the same day in Ho Chi Minh City, similar ceremonies were held at local cemeteries in the districts of Hoc Mon, Can Gio, Binh Chanh, Nha Be, and Thu Duc city.

Delegates at the events expressed their deep gratitude for the fallen soldiers’ services and contributions to national independence and liberation.

Also yesterday, the Da Nang city youth union in coordination with the city Department of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs, and the city Association of War Veterans, held an incense offering and candle lighting ceremony at the city’s cemetery of fallen soldiers.

On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of Wounded and Fallen Soldiers’ Day, a delegation of representatives from Ninh Thuan provincial Department of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs, the provincial Youth Union of the province and the provincial Buddhist Sangha lit candles at tombs of heroes and martyrs at the provincial cemetery on July 24.

The event aimed to educate younger generations about the revolutionary tradition, patriotism and national pride, thus raising their awareness and responsibility in the cause of national construction and defence.
