World Customs Organisation Technology Conference 2023 to take place in Hanoi

VTV.vn - The World Customs Organisation (WCO) Technology Conference 2023, is scheduled to take place in Hanoi from October 10-12, according to the Vietnam General Department of Customs.

Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Division under the General Department of Customs Hoang Dinh Trung said, that the event is the biggest annual international conference of WCO and this year’s theme will be “Embracing the Digital Age: Leveraging Technology, Fostering Innovation, and Nurturing the Next Generation of Customs Professionals”.

The conference will feature 10 plenary sessions and three thematic seminars on how innovation and technology can support customs in performing its functions of trade facilitation, protection of society and revenue collection while placing people at the heart of the digital transformation process.

The event will also showcase 50 booths, introducing new technologies of enterprises in the customs sector, including digital solutions, security solutions, anti-smuggling and trade fraud, artificial intelligence applications in trade development, and blockchain solutions in transportation, production, finance, trade, energy, services and risk management.

“In the context that Vietnam Customs is implementing the first phase of the Customs Development Strategy until 2030, with the basic goal of completing digital Customs and a smart Customs model, access to new technology, as well as the practices and lessons learned from other countries customs at the conference, will help the Vietnam Customs have the appropriate direction amid the rapid technological development trend,” Hoang Dinh Trung noted.
