VTV.vn - Goethe Institute in Hanoi organised a workshop on October 29, to share valuable information about the journey of fighting for gender equality for female politicians from Germany and Vietnam.

In her opening speech, German Ambassador to Vietnam, Helga Margarete Barth, shared: The workshop is a testament to the important role of women in participating in political activities in the world in general and in Vietnam and Germany in particular. The feminist movement that has been taking place for many years has created equality between women and men in politics.

Former National Assembly Deputy of Vietnam, Ton Nu Thi Ninh, said that women should strive to seize opportunities for themselves. At the same time, she emphasised that the role of teachers and family is an important key to helping women nurture the desire to become good leaders with power in society.

However, seizing development opportunities yourself is the most important factor.

According to Serap Güler, a Member of Parliament from the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) German Federal Parliament, women are completely capable of taking on important tasks in parliament, and it is very normal for women to hold power and become prime ministers.

At the panel discussion, the stories shared by the guests were a testament to the transformative impact of women's voices at many different levels of society, of the journey from a political environment with little presence of women to significant change, not only in the number of women holding important positions but also in their impact in many fields.
