Workshop highlights importance of green transition
An overview of the workshop
VTV.vn - Vietnam National Television (VTV) has recently held a workshop themed “Green transition: an opportunity for leaders” in Hanoi.

The event aimed to raise public voices to promote the process of green transition, bringing Vietnam’s economy towards green and sustainable growth.

At the same time, this is also one of the initial steps for Vietnam to fulfil its commitment to net zero greenhouse gas emissions and integrate with the development trend of the world.

To date, about 140 countries, or nearly 90% of total global emissions, including major emitters such as the US, China and India, have committed to or towards the Net-zero target.

Each country sets its timeline to achieve this goal, mostly by 2050, with a few exceptions in 2035 and 2070 at the latest.

VTV expected that the workshop will contribute to creating an open connection between businesses and policymakers, because at the 26th UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) in the UK in 2021, Vietnam made a series of commitments, including setting a target of net zero carbon emissions by 2050.

To achieve this goal, the core issue is that policy mechanisms in the coming time need to be completed to directly affect the economy, helping businesses avoid risks and seize opportunities.

This was also an opportunity for policymakers and businesses to collect more proposals, ideas, practical experiences, and pioneering pilot models, in implementing the business community's green transition goals.
