VTV.vn - A workshop to deter counterfeit goods smuggling and Intellectual Property (IP) infringement was held in HCMC on November 26th.

According to reports at the workshop, in the first 9 months of 2015, authorities have handled some 150 thousand cases of smuggling and trade fraud, a 30% increase from last year.

The situation appears to be getting worse, as increasingly sophisticated tricks and abetting of criminals by corrupt officials have been identified. Some firms did not dare report the counterfeiting of their products and ended up going bankrupt. It is recommended that consumers ask for receipts to ensure the quality of goods.

This event was jointly organized by the Vietnam Standards and Consumers Association (VINASTAS) and Vietnam’s Media Gateway against counterfeit goods.
