VTV to broadcast three documentaries on Paris Peace Accords

3 historical documentaries about Vietnam produced by the French National Film Institute will be shown on Vietnam Television to mark Vietnam’s 43rd Reunification Day and 50th anniversary of the beginning of Paris Peace Agreement negotiations.

“We will preserve and promote the value of these documentaries,” representing the Archives Department, Nguyen Thi Nga said.

Representing the Archives Department, Nguyen Thi Nga, vice head of the department, negotiated and bought the copyright from the French National Cinema Institute to broadcast three documentary films in Vietnam.

“The films will be showcased in front of the public nationwide to provide people a view on the war from the perspective of foreign filmmakers and journalists,” said Nga.

“We acknowledge that the films are a rare and precious source of information which recorded the important period of the national history.”

“We will preserve and promote the value of these documentaries,” she said.

An image in  "Vietnam: Journey to Peace"

The images have been extracted from three documentary films whose copy and right-to-use licenses were bought from France. The three documentaries' names translate to "Vietnam", "Peace for Vietnam", and "Vietnam: Journey to Peace".

They depict the course of history from 1900 to 1973 in Vietnam, when the Paris Peace Accords was signed. The State Records Management and Archives Department and Vietnam Television are dubbing the films in Vietnamese so they can be broadcast in April and May.
