Vinamilk starts work on Tam Dao beef cattle farming and processing project

The ground-breaking ceremony took place on March 8 in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang, and came as part of a series of activities to celebrate 50 years of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic ties.

With a total investment of 3 trillion VND (over 126 million USD), this is the first cooperation project between Vietnamese and Japanese leading companies in high-tech agriculture, under an agreement worth 500 million USD, signed in late 2021.

Vinabeef Tam Dao covers an area of 75.6 hectares and consists of two zones: one for cattle farming that can accommodate 10,000 cows and a chilled meat processing plant with an annual capacity of 10,000 tonnes of products.

The project is scheduled to come into operation in 2024, providing chilled beef that is processed in a closed and highly automated line, ensuring quality and nutrition.

Speaking at the event, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien stated that the complex not only marks cooperation between the two countries’ leading companies but also reflects the efforts of enterprises and Vinh Phuc Province in promoting Vietnam-Japan development cooperation, especially in high-tech agriculture and food processing.

For his part, Sojitz President Masayoshi Fujimoto said that this is the corporation’s key project in Vietnam for at least the next five to ten years, noting that there remains plenty of room for the beef market in Vietnam, which has a high demand for high-quality beef products.

He expected that the project will create a breakthrough in the market once it becomes operational.
