VTV.vn - At least eight members of the same family were among the 26 people killed on Sunday when a man armed with a rifle burst into the sanctuary of a church in Texas and started firing.

The mass shooting left about 20 others wounded at the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, about 30 miles east of San Antonio. Hours after the shooting, residents of Sutherland Springs hugged one another, held candles and sang hymns in a vigil Sunday night. Local residents and Texas Governor Greg Abbot joined the ceremony. The victims ranged in age from 5 to 72 years old. The suspected gunman Devin Patrick Kelley, 26-year-old, dressed in a black combat suit, stormed the church, and started firing a Ruger AR. A short time later, the suspect was killed by the police. Kelley served in the US Air Force from 2010 until his discharge in 2014, and was also convicted of a felony after he was accused of assaulting his wife and young child. Police are continuing to investigate the motives behind the shooting.
