VTV.vn - On June 30th, Vietnam and the European Union will sign their Trade Agreement (referred to as EVFTA) and the Investment Protection Agreement. The decision was adopted by the European Council.

At a press conference on Tuesday, Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh affirmed that the EVFTA is considered a new-generation and comprehensive agreement. When coming into force, it can leverage two-way trade turnover and the Vietnamese economy’s competitiveness. EVFTA comes with the highest level of commitment which Vietnam has achieved in its signed Free Trade Agreements.

Prior to the trade pact’s effects, only more than 42% of Vietnam's exports to EU enjoyed a 0% tax rate.
