Vietnamese citizens sent home

Upon arriving at Van Don International Airport in the northern province of Quang Ninh, all the passengers and flight crew underwent health checks and were put in quarantine in line with Vietnam’s regulations on COVID-19 prevention and control.

Amid the lockdown in France due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Vietnamese Embassy has coordinated with the Vietnamese community in the country to help citizens return home.

The flight to France on May 5 also carried medical supplies as a gift from the Vietnamese Government and people for their French counterparts.

Based on citizens’ wishes, the local quarantine capacity and the development of the pandemic, authorities and airlines will continue to conduct commercial flights to repatriate more Vietnamese citizens in the time ahead.

Regarding flights to repatriate Vietnamese citizens from the US, the Foreign Ministry said that the ministry, the embassy and other representative bodies of Vietnam in the US have been working with agencies on both sides to help Vietnam Airlines swiftly deal with procedures for flights as soon as possible.

The national flag carrier has completed the necessary procedures, at the request of US authorities, for a flight scheduled for May 7.

The Foreign Ministry asked Vietnamese citizens to comply with the host country’s anti-COVID-19 regulations and Vietnamese representative bodies’ guidelines.

Vietnamese carriers Bamboo Airways said it has coordinated with the Embassies of the UK, France, Sweden and other European nations to operate a special flight from Hanoi to transport European citizens who wish to return home.

Accordingly, the flight to London is scheduled to take off from Noi Bai International Airport at 2am on May 10, carrying 280 passengers – citizens of the UK and other European countries.
