Vietnam wins first prize at the Nature Conservancy’s Global Photo Contest

The photo is about the activity of a fisherman in Hon Yen, the south central coastal province of Phu Yen.

Earlier, he was awarded the first prize at the AGORA Images Beauty competition in July, with a photo capturing the image of a Gould's sun bird approaching a flower.

The Nature Conservancy, a global environmental non-profit organisation, received 121,774 entries from 152 countries around the world for the annual contest.

The competition consists of five categories including wildlife, water, people in nature, cities and nature, and landscape.

The Grand Prize went to Tyler Schiffman from the United States for his underwater photo of a California sea lion framed by kelp beds in Monterey Bay.

Meanwhile, the photo of a small waterfall and stream in West Papua, which was taken by Indonesian photographer Diyanto Sarira, was honoured with the People’s Choice award.

Other works by Fernando O’Farrill (Mexico), Alex Kydd (Australia), Jay Huang (the US) and Colin Ronald (Austria) took first place in the categories of wildlife, water, cities and nature and landscape, respectively.
