Addressing the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam encouraged the tourism sector to be more determined and creative in order to achieve breakthroughs in its development and contribute more to the national ecomony.
Over 55 years of development, Viet Nam's tourism sector has made many remarkable achievements. Last year, Viet Nam welcomed 7.9 million international arrivals, raking in 11 million USD. This figure was up 78 times over 1990.
Also on the occasion, 80 local tourism companies were honored with Vietnam Tourism Awards. The awards aim to raise public awareness of the role of tourism in the country’s socio-economic development.
