VTV was represented at the signing ceremony by Director General Nguyen Thanh Lam, Deputy Director General Le Quyen, and leaders from the Office, News Department, External Television Department, Program Department, and the Sports Television Center. KBS was represented by President and CEO Park Jang-beom, along with representatives from its Office and International Relations division.
During earlier talks, VTV Director General Nguyen Thanh Lam emphasized that cooperation between VTV and KBS has been built up and strengthened over many years through professional exchanges, production support, and the joint organization of large-scale cultural programs. In the context of the rapid transformation of the global media landscape driven by digital technology and artificial intelligence, the agreement is an important step in enhancing collaboration across both traditional broadcasting and digital platforms.
Acknowledging KBS’s expertise in digital transformation and the development of a modern media ecosystem, Director General Nguyen Thanh Lam expressed his expectation that KBS would share its insights on OTT platform development, multi-platform content distribution strategies, and the integration of data and AI in content production. These insights are expected to support VTV in refining its digital content strategy, particularly for VTVgo, the national digital television platform.
Both sides also proposed several specific areas of cooperation, including the development of a “VTV and KBS Digital Lab” for experimenting with digital content, the creation of a Vietnam-Korea Culture segment on the Vietnam Today program and KBS World, and the expansion of training and experience exchange programs on integrated newsroom development. Other initiatives include the application of AI to production and content management, the establishment of a News Connection Team for sharing news content, and joint production of programs focusing on the Vietnamese community in Korea and the Korean community in Vietnam.
Mr. Park Jang-beom, President and CEO of KBS, spoke highly of VTV’s role and reputation in the Asia-Pacific region, confirming that VTV is a key KBS partner in Southeast Asia. He added that the agreement would strengthen not only media cooperation but also promote cultural exchange and mutual understanding between the Vietnamese and Korean peoples.
As part of the program, the KBS delegation visited VTV’s news and Vietnam Today's studios, and held further discussions with VTV leaders to align future cooperation areas.
To mark the signing the media cooperation agreement and the 2026-2027 cooperation framework, KBS also presented VTV with a collection of valuable archival footage of Vietnam from 1956 to 1975.
The signing ceremony marks an important milestone in the partnership between VTV and KBS, contributing to stronger cultural exchange and closer connections between the people of Vietnam and Korea in the coming period.
