Vietnam supports COVID-19 relief efforts in Ukraine

VTV.vn - The Vietnam-Ukraine Friendship Association (VUFA) on May 26 presented 5,000 antibacterial face masks and VND332 million (US$14,254) to the Ukrainian Embassy in Vietnam to support the East European country in its fight against COVID-19.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, VUFA Chairman Dang Van Chien said the donations came from the Vietnamese people who had been living, studying and working in Ukraine, stating that the gift reflects the noble tradition of gratitude of the Vietnamese nation.

Amid the complicated developments of the pandemic in Europe and throughout the world, Chien called for joint efforts and continuous donations from philanthropists and benefactors to assist medical workers contain the disease.

Nataliya Zhykina, Charge d'Affaires of the Ukrainian Embassy in Vietnam, expressed her thanks to the VUFA, affirming that the gift is a great source of encouragement to the people of Ukraine and a message of solidarity and friendship between the people of the two countries.

Lauding Vietnam’s COVID-19 relief efforts, Nataliya Zhykina said the country’s very relevant experience should be studied by other countries, also affirming her belief that the pandemic will soon be pushed back.
