Vietnam steps up fight against drugs

VTV.vn - Responding to World Drug Day on June 26th, Vietnam kicked off an action month against drugs on Sunday.

This year’s programme is themed “Protect the young generation from drug threats". By the end of 2015, there were more than 200,000 drug addicts in Vietnam, mostly young people, according to the Ministry of Invalids and Social Affairs. The Ministry of Public Security says amphetamine production and trafficking increase 10-15% year on year. In the world, the number of drug addicts has reached 29 million, with 1.7 million people infected with HIV. Every second, 23 people die of drug related issues.
